Thiruvananthapuram: Youth Congress Kerala state president Shafi Parambil MLA said that police officers who dealt with protesting KSU activists were not wearing name badges.

Male police officers, who attacked female activists used expletives that cannot be uttered again. The police beat KSU activists on the head until their fiber batons broke apart, the MLA alleged. “Those who have the history of hurling petrol bombs at police officers during protests need not advise us,” he added.

Shafi Parambil was addressing the media after several activists were injured when KSU took out a protest march to the Secretariat.

“It would be better for DYFI not to insult protesters because visuals from media channels would reveal DYFI activists hurling petrol bombs at the police. People with such history need not advise us. Those who condemn the protests must remember that they will have to enter the protest front soon,” the MLA said.

“The government is showing intolerance towards all protests. Our hunger strike protest has entered the 5th day. PSC rank holders have been protesting for the last 24 days. No minister is ready to hold conciliation talks. This government is displaying all its arrogance against the protesters. We will continue the hunger strike,” said Shafi Parambil.
