Kozhikode: Police has nabbed a man for possession of 42 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 10 lakh in the retail market from Chalappuram here on Thursday. Suneer (50), hailing from Padanna, was arrested by Kozhikode Town SPC Bijuraj along with Kasaba Station SI Sreejith and a DANSAF unit team headed by Anti-narcotic ASP Jayakumar. The accused was nabbed during a vehicle search. The accused was living in a rented house near Kozhikode Medical College.
The accused bought brown sugar for Rs 1700/gram and sold them at a retail price of Rs 18,000 to Rs 22,000. Meantime, the police have received information that drugs are actively sold to youngsters in the district. Further, the police have received information on the source of the drug after questioning him. The police are investigating whether he has any accomplices in his business.
Suneer is one of the accused in the accidental death of a youth due to a drug overdose two years ago. He was absconding from the police and was living in various rented houses.
