P C George
Thiruvananthapuram: Police arrested senior leader P C George for his hate speech that he delivered during 'Ananathapuri Hindu Mahasammelan' at Thiruvananthapuram. Former MLA P.C.George was taken into custody in the early hours of Sunday from his residence at Erattupeta in Kottayam district and was brought to AR Camp in Thiruvananthapuram from where his arrest was recorded.
Police said cops from the Fort police station here took George into custody from his residence. A heavy police contingent was deployed across the roads through which George was brought to Thiruvananthapuram. George had given a vitriolic speech in which he had lashed out against the Muslim community.
En route, the vehicle of P C George was stopped by BJP activists at Vattapara in Thiruvananthapuram and they hailed him. P C George was travelling in his own car along with his son Shone George. When his vehicle reached Nalanchira, protesters threw rotten eggs towards him. DYFI activists showed black flags at his vehicle.
Initially, the police decided to record his arrest at Fort Police station but due to security concerns he was taken to AR camp. Immediately after he was brought here, V Muraleedharan and other BJP leaders reached the place but were not allowed to meet him. Muraleedharan said the action against the senior leader was violation of freedom of speech.
Addressing a programme organised as part of the ongoing Ananthapuri Hindu Maha Sammelan, George had alleged that tea laced with “drops causing impotence” were sold in Muslim-run restaurants to turn people “infertile” in a bid to “seize control” of the country.
