Poet-playwright PN Chandran passes away
Kozhikode: Poet-playwright P. N. Chandran passed away on Tuesday morning at his residence in Pottammal in Nellikkal. He was 78. He has been under treatment for age related ailments for many days.
He started writing poems at the age of 13. His first poem was published in a magazine ‘Kerala Vidyarthi’ when he was 15. He had also run a literary magazine ‘Sabdangal’. He was imprisoned for his trade union activities. He had travelled across many states in the country.
P. N. Chandran had penned more than 1000 poems and about 60 plays. Also he was active in elocution, acting and direction. His major works include ‘Ninnu kathunna Orachan’, Nadeethadam’, ‘Himalayathile Sooryan’ and Sangharshabhoomiyile Sthree’.
He is survived by wife Radhamani. P. N. Chandran is the son of Pullannoor Nalupurakkal Nambodi and Karat Devaki Amma.
