Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM has taken collective disciplinary action against its several members over a POCSO case in Vilavoorkal here. A DYFI leader is booked in this POCSO case.
The disciplinary action has been initiated based on complaints alleging delay in taking action against DYFI leader Jinesh, an accused in the POCSO case.
Reportedly, Vilavoorkal local committee secretary Biju has been sacked from the post. As part of disciplinary action, the party also issued a warning to him. Similar warnings were issued to two other local committee members too. Meantime, local committee member JS Ranjith has been demoted.
As per the case, DYFI leader Jinesh had sexually exploited a girl after making a friendship with her through social media. It is reported that similar complaints were taken against him earlier too.
The police had earlier recovered his videos of having sexual intercourse with 30 women, including a minor.
The footage also shows him handing over drugs to girls and using brutal weapons such as knives, machetes and swords.
The other accused are S Sumej (21), A Arun (27), Sibi (20), Vishnu (23), Abhijith (26) and Achu Ananthu (18). A plus two student who was arrested in connection with the case has been produced before the juvenile court.
“The accused had sexually abused the child and captured the visuals,” said the police.
