Kozhikode: Patients have to visit the hospital several times to register for Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), a National Health Protection Scheme that covers over 10 crore poor and vulnerable families in the country.
The patients trying to avail the service are left disappointed due to the issues with the website. Further, the hospitals are forced to postpone surgeries due to delay in receiving approval for those coming under the scheme via the same website.
As a result, the beneficiaries, including those above 80 years, are forced to visit the hospital multiple times since the person receiving treatment must register with their biometrics.
People who have to seek treatment in hospitals in other districts are hard hit. The patients and their relatives are forced to visit the hospital multiple times due to issues with the website.
Currently, there are 42 lakh beneficiaries in the state availing National Health Protection Scheme. It provides coverage up to Rs 5 lakh per family in a year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.
