Plus One admission: Will allot more seats, says education minister
Thiruvananthapuram: Education minister V Sivankutty stated in the assembly that the government has taken necessary steps to resolve the shortage of Plus One seats. The number of seats in government schools will be increased, if necessary. Temporary batches will be allotted for science subjects which has high demand among the students, the minister said.
The seats in government schools will be increased by 10 or 20 percent according to the situation. In case of aided or unaided schools, 20 percent management seats and 10 or 20 percent of general merit extra seats will be allotted, he said.
The shortage of seats occurred as more number of students secured A Plus grade in all subjects this time. There are 5812 students who could not secure admission despite scoring A Plus grade. The minister also informed the number of seats in taluk level.
