Pipeline based city gas distribution kickstarts in Kozhikode

Under the City Gas project in Kozhikode, households in the district have begun receiving natural gas through piped connections to their kitchens. As many as 52 households in Unnikulam Panchayat are getting Piped Natural Gas (PNG) as of now.

The natural gas is from Indian Oil Adani Gas’ City Gate Station in the panchayat, a major outlet of Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL).

In the first phase, 1.200 households in the panchayat are expected to get the service. As of now, connection works at 81 houses are underway. Registration of customers takes place simultaneously. 300 households will get the connection by December end.

Following the completion of the first phase, the scheme will be extended to the panchayats of Balussery and Panangad. A survey for the same is being conducted.

The primary connection charge is Rs 7,118. In this, Rs 6,000 is caution deposit. The payment can be made in instalments. Monthly minimum charge is Rs 75. The rest will be based on usage. Meanwhile, if the facility at the kitchen has to be modified, extra charge will be levied.
