Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan entered election campaign in his constituency in Kannur district.
The move comes after the Opposition turned the CM's absence in the election campaign into a weapon against LDF. The Left front also pasted posters carrying the image of Pinarayi Vijayan all over the district.
Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala had turned the CM’s absence in the election campaign into a weapon. The Congress leader had alleged that the CM was hiding inside Cliff House. Following this, the CPI (M) started pasting posters with the CM’s face. They also organised a photo challenge in their party groups for posters carrying Pinrayi Vijayan’s photo.
Meanwhile, the CM inaugurated the LDF web-rally. Pinarayi Vijayan also entered the election campaign in Kannur. However, the CM’s election campaign will be limited to his constituency. Despite being in Kannur district for 5 days, the CM will take part in only one meeting outside the Dharmadam constituency. The CM will attend a CPI (M) election committee meeting in Kannur corporation.
Pinarayi Vijayan will preside over eight CPI (M) panchayat committee meetings in Dharmadam constituency. He will also visit several development activities undertaken by the government. CPI (M) leaders explained that the CM is refraining from campaigns due to COVID-19 protocol. Pinarayi Vijayan will return to Thiruvananthapuram only after exercising his franchise on December 14.
