Pinarayi govt an example of how you can engage in corruption scientifically: Ramesh Chennithala
Thiruvananthapram: Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala alleged that the gold smuggling case accused reached Bengaluru from the state capital with the help of Kerala Police. Ramesh Chennithala was speaking at the ‘Chodyam Utharam’ (Q/A programme) in Mathrubhumi News.
“This was done based on the CM’s direction. I have been a home minister. Will the police make a move without Pinarayi’s knowledge,” the Congress leader asked.
Chennithala expressed UDF’s disappointment in V. D. Satheesan not being able to present the no-confidence motion against the CM in the Assembly. The people of Kerala have passed a no-confidence motion against the government which has set new records in corruption. The Pinarayi government is a model for scientific practice of corruption and is making money, he said.
Chennithala questioned how Pinarayi Vijayan can rule the state if he does not know what is happening inside his office. The Congress leader cited lapses from police and the Home department in the gold smuggling case. “The police did not even file an FIR against any of the accused. The police department remained silent and it shows the CM is trying to safeguard the accused,” Chennithala said.
The Opposition leader reiterated his demand on CM's resignation accepting moral responsibility in the gold smuggling case. He cited the examples of former CM K. Karunakaran resigning from the post in Rajan case and ISRO espionage case.
Chennithala questioned the integrity of the Chief Secretary’s investigation and asked if Pinarayi Vijayan would appoint a judicial commission to investigate the gold smuggling case.
