Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Police has registered 281 cases and recorded 1013 arrests in connection with the violence related to hartal observed by the Popular Front of India on Friday. A total of 819 people were placed in preventive detention on the hartal day.
Out of the total 281 cases, Malappuram recorded the highest number with 34 cases. Meanwhile, with 169 arrests, Kollam topped the list.

At the same time, the High Court directed that the loss incurred by KSRTC in the hartal should be recovered from the protesters. The High Court said those who called for a hartal should pay for the losses incurred in revenue due to the suspension of the bus services.
