Pet shop owner stranded in lockdown; pets starve to death with no food and care
Kozhikode: In a tragic incident, pets inside Alnabeer pet shop near Parakkadavu Valayam Road in Kozhikode succumbed without food and proper care. Rabbits, cats, lovebirds and ornamental fishes in the shop died.
Owner of the shop Nazar along with family members went to Bengaluru and were stranded due to the unexpected triple lockdown. Meanwhile, Nazar claims that he had assigned a person to take care of the pets and birds in the shop.
The tragedy came to light when foul smell emanated from the shop. The locals called up Nazar and informed the matter after which they opened the shop. The decomposed body of pets were buried by the local people. The natives also reported the matter to Health and Animal Husbandry department.
