Sundaran and family near the shed destroyed by wild elephant
Edakkara (Malappuram): A family was saved by their pet dog from the attack of wild elephant. When the elephant trampled a shed close to the house of Sundaran at Udiramkulam, their pet dog Jimmy barked and scratched on the plastic sheet of the shed to awaken the family. With this, they woke up and ran away from the elephant.
The 9-member family of Sundaran resides near Kariyamuriyam forest. Sundaran and wife Seetha used to sleep in the shed made of plastic sheet which was used as kitchen. When they woke up from sleep hearing the dog barking, the elephant was about to trample the shed. In a moment, they ran into the room where their children were asleep.

Meanwhile, the wild elephant destroyed the roof of the shed and was trying to enter inside. However, it was distracted as the family raised an alarm. Within 10 minutes, it walked around the house many times and then withdrew into the forest via Chembankolli road. Till then, Jimmy barked at the elephant and followed it to the border of the forest.
It is the first time, wild elephant is coming near Sundaran's house. Before returning to forest, it also destroyed the crops like paddy, plantain and coconut trees of Cherukara Beevi, Chettissery John and Perichathra Balan in the neighbourhood.
