Periya twin murder: Two including CPM area secretary arrested


Investigation in the Periya twin murder case is at the final stage.

Kasaragod: Crime branch arrested two persons including a CPM area secretary in connection with the murder of Sarath Lal and Kripesh, two youth congress activists at Periya near Uduma. The arrested have been identified as area secretary K M Manikandan and Periya local committee secretary Balakrishnan. The cases filed against them were under charges of destroying evidences and helping the accused to escape.

The probe team found that the culprits, after committing the crime, reached Velutholi near Uduma and contacted area secretary Manikandan. Following that, Manikandan and Balakrishnan helped the accused to stay under cover and hide weapons, and to destroy evidences.

Investigation in the Periya twin murder case is at the final stage. Crime branch has decided to submit charge sheets separately for murder and conspiracy.

High court, on May 25, will consider the plea filed by the parents of Sarath Lal and Kripesh demanding CBI probe blaming the inadequate investigation of police and crime branch. The probe team is planning to submit the charge sheet before this. It is learnt that the arrest of two were part of this move.

They were later given bail by Hosdurg court.
