Periya murder case: Parents of Kripesh, Sarath Lal move HC


The crime branch stated that it is yet to receive permission from higher ups to hand over the documents.

Kochi: The crime branch is yet to hand over the documents in the Periya double murder case. The crime branch stated that it is yet to receive approval from higher ups to hand over the documents. Following this, the parents of Kripesh and Sarath Lal approached the High Court citing contempt of court.

Earlier, the HC handed over the investigation to CBI after dismissing the charge sheet submitted by police. The HC had criticised the police by pointing out severe lapses in the investigation.

The CBI had criticised that the crime branch was not cooperating with the investigation. CBI had alleged that the crime branch was not ready to hand over the case diary and other documents in the case.

The CBI had approached the HC citing non-cooperation from the crime branch. Following this, the HC directed the crime branch to hand over the documents to CBI.

As the crime branch is yet to hand over the documents, the parents of Kripesh and Sarath Lal approached the HC. However, the crime branch said they are yet to receive permission to hand over the documents.
