Kochi: While considering the bail pleas of the accused in Periya double murder, the High Court came down heavily on the office of Director General of Prosecution. HC observed that there were lapses in handling the bail applications.
It also asked whether anyone in the Director General of Prosecution’s office have any secret agenda.
The prosecution had asked to postpone the bail plea consideration. But HC took the stance that bail application can’t be deferred. It said that despite the presence of prosecution, the bail pleas will be considered.
“Many lapses are occurring from the part of the office of Director General of Prosecution in handling the bail applications. Does anyone in there have any kind of secret agenda? if this is continued stringent actions like summoning chief secretary will be initiated," said the court.
The bail pleas in the case will be considered later the day.
