Periya double murder case: Govt files appeal in HC against CBI inquiry
Kochi: The government has submitted an appeal in the High Court against a single bench order transferring the murder case of Youth Congress activists Sarathlal and Kripesh at Periya in Kasaragod to the CBI.
The government has submitted the appeal against the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe before a division bench of the HC. The single bench of HC had ordered a CBI probe into the double murder case on September 30. It is against this order that the government has now filed an appeal.
According to the government, the crime branch investigation is progressing well and there is no need for a CBI inquiry at the moment.
The Single bench had ordered a CBI inquiry citing lapses in investigation. The single bench had said that the crime branch believed the statements of the accused more than the statements given by the witnesses. The single bench further pointed out that those who were involved in the murder conspiracy were not named as accused.
Citing all these issues did the HC single bench ordered to transfer the case to CBI.
