Peravoor (Kannur): A man who was undergoing treatment after being attacked by his stepfather has succumbed to his injuries on Monday around 1:30 am at MIMS Hospital in Kozhikode.
The deceased was identified as Biju Chacko (50) from Peravoor. He was attacked by his stepfather Jose Mankuzhy over property dispute on October 29.
Biju was on his way to Manathana town in his jeep when stepfather Jose blocked the road by placing stones and attacked him. Jose poured acid on Biju’s face and when he tried to escape, he was hacked with a machete. The stepfather also tried to restrict others from taking him to hospital.
As the acid poured was spread over the jeep seat too, the neighbours took him to a hospital in Peravoor in another vehicle. However, he was later shifted to MIMS Hospital and was on a ventilator.
Meanwhile, Jose and his aide Sreedharan (58) have been remanded in police custody.
Biju is the son of late Chacko and Leelama. He is survived by wife Shelma and son Leo. Last rites will be held later.
