Thiruvananthapuram: People who try to get free quarantine facility by making false claims of poverty will face action including revenue recovery. The government has intensified the quarantine conditions as the number of COVID patients and repatriating expats increased. They are encouraging home-quarantine to the maximum.
If there are children or elderly people aged above 65 years at home or bath-attached room is not available, the NRIs have two options. Either they can stay at hotels and lodges paying rent or stay at free quarantine centres offered by the government in case of financial difficulties.
Start with Jagratha portal
When the NRIs apply for pass in the Jagratha portal, they have to specify what type of quarantine they prefer. These details will be available at the Jagratha control rooms and local bodies of the concerned districts.
At airport
After landing at the airport, the NRIs should inform quarantine details at the counter and change PPE kits before starting journey. Buses and taxis will be available. Also they can drive private vehicles brought from their homes. If the vehicle is driven by some others, they also have to stay in quarantine. People who have symptoms will be sent in ambulance for detailed checkup.
Inquiries
The health and local body departments will submit a report regarding the facilities at the house. Those who choose paid quarantine will not get any free service except for the monitoring by the government. More checking will be conducted in case of those who choose free quarantine services.
The village officer will probe further based on the report of local body secretary and health inspectors. Free quarantine will be available only if this report also is favourable. The government will offer free accommodation and food.
If the person furnished wrong details in order to get free quarantine, the expenses will be charged from him/her. It has been directed even revenue recovery can be opted for this.
