Kelakam: KSRTC had recently declared that all services that were stopped due to Covid were restarted. But 10 services in Kelakam, Kottiyoor and Peravoor regions have not recommenced yet. This also includes long-distance services. There used to be about 30 services from Mananthavady via Palchuram before and these buses were running within half-hour intervals.
These days there are only 20 services available on these routes. Most of the services that haven’t started are those running through Balal, Cheekad, Payannur, Kottayam and earning the maximum income. KSRTC restarted only 8 services along the mountain pass. Mathrubhumi had reported this matter earlier. More trips were started following the protests staged by people and KSRTC protection committee and other organizations.
Adakathod-Santhigiri service is also included in the list of services that were cancelled. The only service to Santhigiri from Adakathod has also not been restarted. People travelling during the night are posed with a difficult situation due to this.
The most important service that has currently not been started is the fast passenger service from Mananthavady to Kottayam at 7.45 pm. People are of the opinion that this service must be restarted as soon as possible.
