Peechi dispensary
Peechi: Two years passed since the government dispensary in Peechi shut in the name of renovation. The temporary functioning rest house has been devoid of basic facilities and daily service of doctors. Hence, the locals have to rely upon the Pattikkad family health centre, which is located eight kilometres away.
The Peechi dispensary is at least 60 years old. The Department of Health took up the management of the dispensary when the Water Resources department which owned the building closed it.
Pananchery panchayat and TN Prathapan MP had granted Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20 lakh respectively for the renovation of the dispensary. Following some construction works, the dispensary was inaugurated under the health department in 2020. However, the renovation works in two phases are still underway here.
