Kottayam: When the first round of votes were counted in Poonjar, LDF candidate Sebastian Kulathunkal is leading by 5177 votes as per initial trends.
There was a tight contest in the constituency as UDF fielded Tomy Kallani and veteran leader P C George contested as independent candidate. For the past 40 years, P C George has been the MLA of Poonjar.
Within the next few hours, the people of Poonjar will know if PC would continue as MLA or Sebastian Kulathunkal of Jose K Mani faction will win.
