Thiruvananthapuram: Ahead of the assembly election, P C George’s Janapaksham party is likely to join the NDA. P C George is trying to become an ally of NDA after the local leaders of Congress opposed his entry into the UDF. He said that the political decision on this will be declared on February 27.
The Congress leaders said they will field a parallel candidate if P C George is made an ally. With this, UDF offered to support him if he contested as an independent candidate. But P C George was not interested in this offer and decided to check other ways.
P C George had joined as an ally of NDA during the previous Lok Sabha polls and also became part of the election campaign for K Surendran in Pathanamthitta. However, NDA could not make expected success in the polls. With this, P C George left the front calling it a temporary system.
Later, he showed interest to join UDF when the assembly polls are round the corner. Though Congress workers seemed to accept this, the plans were dropped due to protest from local leaders. They stated that his BJP links and recent statements against Muslims will result in a setback for them.
But P C George blamed Oommen Chandy for all the trouble and had even stated this to mathrubhumi.com earlier. BJP plans to draw P C George to them as Poonjar is his stronghold. They are also likely to give him Kanjirappally seat as well, if P C George’s son Shone George is made candidate.
P C George had contributed to the Ram Temple fund a few days ago and this led to rumours of his entry into the NDA. It was Kerala Congress leader P C Thomas who took initiative to make P C George join NDA. He assumes that if PC George comes to NDA, they can win Pala seat. Considering this, they are making the new moves.
