Thiruvananthapuram: Reports have emerged that Thiruvananthapuram Fort Police may initiate action against former MLA and Kerala Janapaksham (Secular) leader PC George, who is on conditional bail. He was booked and arrested over alleged hate speech.
Kerala High Court on Friday granted bail to George over the conditions that he should restrain from making speech or statement that would outrage religious feelings or promote enmity between groups and is supposed to appear before the probe officer if intimated.
On Saturday, the police issued a notice asking him to appear before the Fort Assistant Commissioner of Police at 11 AM on Sunday. However, George replied that he cannot appear. On Sunday at 11 AM, another notice was issued asking George to appear before the probe official. But he refused to appear before the police. Following that he went for the election campaign at Thrikkakara. Amidst this, it is reported that the police will approach the court seeking action against George.
Meanwhile, George on Saturday had a claimed that his arrest was part of a game plan of state Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. He added that he will give a befitting reply to Vijayan at an election campaign event in Thrikkakara on Sunday. While attending the campaign, George said that Vijayan’s “countdown has started" the day he decided to trap him.
"Here are the shameless cops who searched for me for four days but could not find me. I believe in democracy. That is why I was surrendered to arrest," he said during a press conference here.
"He cannot catch me, I came here because I respect the law. I am fulfilling my civic duty to point out the social evils I have seen. That is my duty as a public servant," he added.
George also alleged Left Democratic Front (LDF) and United Democratic Front (UDF) for trying to win votes by highlighting the faults of certain individuals and insulting their entire community.
George is known for his use of aggressive remarks, insensitive statements, obscene language and communal spin. He tasted electoral defeat during his one-man army pursuit in his political career and has been in limelight for legitimizing Hindutva spins targeting minorities and supporting BJP.
