PC George don't represent Christians, declares

Yuhanon Mar Meletius-PC George

Thrissur: Yuhanon Mar Meletius of Thrissur Diocese, Metropolitan of Orthodox Syrian Church here on Sunday hit out at former MLA and Kerala Janapaksham (Secular) leader PC George.

While addressing the media persons, Yuhanon Mar Meletius said that no one has assigned PC George to look over matters of Christians. He pointed out that George cannot be considered a representative of people following Christianity and he has not received such a mandate.

It may be noted that George who tasted electoral defeat during his one-man army pursuit in his political career and has been projecting himself as a person who strives for addressing the issues faced by the Christians. George is also in limelight for legitimizing Hindutva spins targeting minorities which also got momentum in some Christian fundamentalist groups. He who has swapped his political affiliation multiple times is now seen supporting BJP.

According to Yuhanon Mar Meletius, George is supporting BJP as he is devoid of no other option.

“At present, he has no other stature than this (projecting that he strives for addressing the issues faced by the Christians). The main political fronts led by CPM and Congress here are not accommodating him. So devoid of no other way he is trying to place himself under the roof of BJP,” Yuhanon Mar Meletius criticised George.

The Metropolitan added that followers are the deterrent forces to the Church’s leadership.
