Pathanamthitta: Police have booked the driver concerned in connection with the KSRTC bus accident that left at least 19 injured in Konni here on Saturday. The action comes in wake of the complaint lodged by the injured woman Jessy, a native of Kollam.
The driver has been booked under IPC sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (endangering the life of others) and 338 (Whoever causes grievous hurt to any person).
The driver Ajay Kumar too was injured. He is presently undergoing treatment at Kottayam Medical College. The police are expected to quiz him, once his health condition is fit for it.
Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) will be examining the bus in detail on Monday. Reports claimed that the bus was not fitted with a speed governor. In that case, the fitness certificate issued to the vehicle is likely to be revoked.
Similarly, CCTV visuals of the accident corroborate that the vehicle was speeding in a rash and negligent manner. If there are no other technical issues capable of causing the accident found in the examination of the vehicle, then MVD may suspend/revoke the driver’s license.
