Passenger services yet to restore in TVM division

Kottayam: The services of passenger trains have not been restored even after opening the schools and offices on a regular basis. The halt stations also remain shut. The passengers are expecting the Thiruvananthapuram division will soon take a decision regarding this.

Ernakulam- Kottayam passenger and another train from Kottayam to Ernakulam which leaves Kottayam at 5.30 pm are among the trains which are yet to be reinstated.
Kayamkulam-Kottayam-Ernakulam passenger, Ernakulam-Kayamkulam passenger, Guruvayur- Ernakulam passenger, Kollam MEMU from Kottayam at 5.45 pm are the other services which are not resumed.

The passengers to southern districts were affected when the railways cut short the number of general coaches in Venad express which departs at 6.45 pm.
Though Parasuram Express runs in Nagercoil- Mangaluru route, only 6 general coaches are available on the train.

Season tickets are valid only in Parasuram and Venad expresses. The Railway Users Association President Paul Manvettam said that petitions had been submitted to introduce passenger and MEMU services in the division and the efforts are still continuing.
