Passenger dies as KSRTC’s flash strike brings capital city to a standstill

Thiruvananthapuram: A passenger who fell unconscious during the flash strike organized by Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) here on Wednesday died.

The deceased has been identified as Kadakampally native Surendran (64). He died at the Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital.

Surendran fell unconscious after waiting for a bus at the bus stand for several hours. Although the police managed to take him to the hospital, his life could not be saved. Since KSRTC buses were parked all over the city roads, police could not take Surendran to the hospital in time.

Thiruvananthapuram city came to a standstill due to the KSRTC’s flash strike. The strike started at 11 am and went on till 3.30 pm.

The KSRTC employees participated in the strike after parking all buses in the city's MG road. More than 500 KSRTC buses were halted on the road connecting East Fort and Secretariat.
