Passenger attacks lady conductor for asking luggage fare
Kollam: A passenger attacked a lady conductor of a KSRTC bus irked over demanding luggage fare. V Roshni (45), conductor from Kallambalam PP Cottage, suffered injuries in the attack and was admitted to Thiruvananthapuram medical college.
Police arrested the passenger named Omprakash (30), a Rajasthan native, for attacking the conductor.
It is reported that other passengers in the bus blocked the accused and handed him over to the police.
The incident took place in a KSRTC fast passenger bus that was heading to Kollam from Thiruvananthapuram around 12 pm on Sunday.
Omprakash boarded the bus from Attingal. He took a seat in the front row after keeping the luggage on the backside.
When the conductor noticed the luggage, she enquired about the owner but nobody responded. When the bus reached Chinnakada, the man took his luggage and tried to alight from the bus. During this time, the conductor directed him to take a luggage ticket. Irked with this, the passenger shouted at the conductor and attacked her. He continued to manhandle her even after she fell on the ground.
“When I fell, the passengers helped and saved me from the attack,” said the conductor.
Kollam east police registered a case over the incident. The court remanded the accused.
