Thiruvananthapuram: Many parts of Kerala received rains on Tuesday and it is expected that the showers will continue for some more days. A few isolated places over the state witnessed rains on Monday too.

Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has notified about isolated rains in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Thrissur, and Malappuram on Monday.

According to reports, western disturbance and Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) can be attributed to the rains in the state. MJO is an oceanic-atmospheric phenomenon that affects weather activities. When the phenomenon occurs, rainfall will be accompanied by fog and cold weather. MJO can cause drastic changes in rainfall activities over Kerala.
