Parameswaran Namboodiri is new Guruvayur Melsanthi
Guruvayur: Vavanoor Kaliyath Mana Parameswaran Namboodiri (53) was selected as the Melsanthi (head priest) of Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple for the next six months. He was selected as the head priest of Guruvayur temple for the first time.
The selection was based on a draw of lots conducted in the temple on Friday. A total of 47 candidates had applied for the post. Among them 41 candidates were called for the interview.
The names of 39 candidates who were found eligible in the interview were included in the draw. The present head priest Munnoolam Bhavan Namboodiri picked the lot.
Parameswaran Namboodiri is the son of Koottanadu Kaliyath Brahmadathan Namboodiri and Paravathi Antharjanam. He will take charge as the head priest on September 30 after the ‘Athazha Puja’ ritual.
