Palarivattom flyover scam: Vigilance to interrogate ex-minister Ebrahim Kunju

Kochi: Former minister V K Ebrahim Kunju will be questioned by Vigilance in connection with the Palarivattom flyover scam. Vigilance informed that more evidences were collected and the former minister will be questioned next week at the Kochi office.

It is reported that Muhammad Hanish IAS will also be questioned in the case. They also informed that procedures including preparation of questionnaire have been completed.

The probe in the case was stuck mid-way as there was a delay in obtaining the Governor’s permission to question the ex-minister. During this span, evidences were collected and when the permission was obtained, the probe has re-started effectively.

It is suspected that former minister is involved in granting the mobilisation fund to the contractors. Former PWD secretary T O Sooraj had given statements the Ebrahim Kunju’s intervention in awarding contract. It is known that specific evidences have been obtained against him.

Also details of his intervention in appointments to Roads and Bridges Development Corporation has been obtained by the Vigilance. It is in this wake Hanish, who was in charge of RBDC, is being questioned.

The investigation against the former minister is for issuing an order granting mobilisation fund of Rs 8.25 crore violating agreement. Four persons have been arrested in the case till date.
