Palarivattom flyover issue: Ebrahim Kunju accepts only moral responsibility, blames officials
Kochi: Former PWD minster V. K. Ebrahim Kunju said that everyone has moral responsibility in the irregularities over Palarivattom flyover.
“As the then PWD minister, I had only approved the Palarivattom flyover project. The officials are responsible for everything else,” Ebrahim Kunju said.
“It is the responsibility of the officials concerned to check the amount of cement and iron rods used to construct the flyover and the road. It is not the minister’s job. If the officials concerned did not check such things, they are at fault. The minister’s job is to approve the project. If there are any problems afterwards, it must be brought to the notice of the minister or a complaint should be filed. None of this had happened in the case of Palarivattom flyover project,” he added.
Ebrahim Kunju said that he would cooperate with the vigilance inquiry and added that it is the duty of a citizen to cooperate with the inquiry. “E. Sreedharan will say may things, but they are not practical,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ebrahim Kunju dismissed K B Ganesh Kumar’s claims that he had complained to then chief minister Oommen Chandy regarding the corruption over the Palarivattom flyover project. Ebrahim Kunju clarified that K B Ganesh Kumar did not give a complaint to Oommen Chandy.
