Palakkad wins State School Youth Festival again; Kannur, Kozhikode tied at 2nd place
Kanhangad: Palakkad has been crowned the champions of 60th Kerala State School Youth Festival. This is the third time in the history of the festival that Palakkad district has bagged the top prize. The champions pipped the runner-ups by just two points scoring 951 points while Kozhikode and Kannur districts finished second with 949 points each.
One of the highlights of this year’s youth festival was the active participation from the local residents. Kasargod district, which hosted youth festival after a gap of 28 years, gave a warm welcome to the fest and its particiapnts. People enmasse turned up to watch various competitions despite the heavy rain.
Alathur BSS Higher Secondary School is considered to have played a major role in Palakkad’s ascent to the top. The school bagged 170 points by itself.
Ernakulam and Thrissur shared first place in the Sanskrit Fest with 95 points, Kasaragod came second with 93 points. In Arabic School Festival, Palakkad, Kannur, Kasaragod and Kozhikode shared the top spot with 95 points. With 93 points, Wayanad, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kollam came second.
Next year, the Kerala School Youth Festival will be held at Kollam.
