Palakkad: District collector on Wednesday ordered the suspension of field assistant of Palakkayam village office V Suresh Kumar arrested in the sensational bribery case.

According to the order, the person has been suspended based on section 10 (1) (b) of the Kerala Civil Services (Classification, Control & Appeal) Rules 1960. The section is about evoking suspension, where a case against the person in respect of any criminal offence is under investigation or trial.

The move also comes at a time when complaints against Suresh Kumar are piling up. According to preliminary reports, the person accepted a bribe totalling Rs 1 crore.

It is learnt that he extracted at least Rs 500 from people who approached the village office for various purposes. Several natives who were forced to bribe Suresh Kumar have come forward with complaints after his arres
