Crime scene-Accused Muhammad Firoz in inset
Palakkad: A 17-year-old girl was reportedly slashed by her relative in Kayarampara near Ottapalam here on Tuesday. The police have arrested Muhammad Firoz (25) over the incident. While, the girl who sustained severe injuries has been in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Thrissur Medical College.
The incident happened around 4:15 pm. The girl was returning from college after classes. Firoz who came in a bike slashed her with a knife he had in his hand. The girl’s hand came hanging down, and she suffered deep injuries in her neck and shoulder in the attack, said reports.
The girl was first rushed to taluk hospital, Ottapalam. It was later that she was shifted to Thrissur Medical College.
Meanwhile, police arrested Firoz from the crime scene itself. According to the officials, Firoz is a history-sheeter and he is first accused in a murder case too. The motive behind the attack on the girl remains unascertained. However, reports say, the girl was attacked for blocking Firoz on phone.
