Palakkad: The association of doctors (KGMOA) has lodged a complaint against Kongad MLA K Santhakumari for misbehaving with staff at Palakkad District Hospital.
As per KGMOA, the MLA made a highly insensitive comment. She vented her anger on them saying “it wouldn’t be a surprise if doctors come under attack yet again.”
However Santhakumari has dismissed the allegations. She told Mathrubhumi that she merely questioned the hospital officials about the delay in treatment for her ill husband. She denied making any insensitive comments.
Tension erupted between the MLA and doctors when she brought her husband for treatment at Palakkad district hospital in the busy hours of Thursday.
As per the doctors, the MLA created ruckus, blaming them for not using the thermometer while treating her husband.
The controversy has come up at a time when entire Kerala is witnessing widespread protests condemning the killing of Vandana Das, house surgeon at Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital, who was stabbed to death while on duty by a drug addict named Samdeep.
The rising number of assaults on healthcare workers in the state has spread panic among them.
