Palakkad division resumes platform tickets from today at Rs 50
Kannur: Railways will reintroduce the platform tickets which was stopped for the last one year due to Covid pandemic. Issue of platform tickets will resume in the Palakkad division from May 1 onwards. The tickets which costs Rs 10 will now be priced at Rs 50 in a bid to discourage people from overcrowding, says the order issued by the Railways. The Thiruvananthapuram division has not reintroduced it.
However, this facility is not available in small stations which do not provide UTS. This is because the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), the IT arm of the Railways, has not made modifications in these stations.
Platform tickets in Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad divisions have been made Rs 50 earlier itself.
