Thiruvananthapuram: Actor-turned-MP Suresh Gopi has backed the government regarding the controversial remark by Pala Bishop on 'narcotic jihad'.

The MP said that the chief minister need not directly respond to all issues. The chief minister and the ministers are able to understand things well, Suresh Gopi made it clear.

The government is doing everything they can do. If their intervention is against the interest of the nation, I will react. But I need not criticize them always, the MP said.

Earlier, the Opposition had stated that the government is not intervening to end the controversy related to the Pala Bishop’s comment. Though they demanded to hold an all-party meet, the government refused to do so.

The chief minister had reacted that the government is not answerable to the comments made by those who hold distinguished positions. With this, Suresh Gopi backed the government on the matter.
