Several daycare homes, called ‘Pakalveedu’ for the elderly are being set up under the local governing bodies in Kerala all over the state. Kozhikode Corporation’s first Pakalveedu is located at Kunduparamba, serving three wards here.
It provides space for the senior citizens to spend the daytime together. However, a shortage of funding is experienced as a crisis for running the Pakalveedu.
