Pakal Pooram commences with fervour
Thrissur: Pakal Pooram in connection with the grand Thrissur Pooram commenced here on Tuesday morning at Thekkinkad maidan. The parading called ‘Ezhnellippu’ ceremony of Paramekkavu and Thiruvambady temple started to Sree Moolasthanam in front of the Vadakkumnathan temple.
A mini Thrissur pooram with Kudamattam and fireworks display will be carried out within few hours on Pakal Pooram day.
Marking culmination of the pooram festivities, Upacharam chollal, farewell ceremony will be held at 1 in the noon at Sree Moolasthanam. In the ceremony, elephants carrying idols of Paramekkavu Bhagavathy and Thiruvambady Bhagavathy will come face to face to bid farewell and bring down the curtains of Pooram.
Pakal Pooram is known as Pooram of Thrissurites. Thrissur natives are flocking to Thekkinkadu maidan to take part in the festivities.
Pandi Melam in connection with Pakal Pooram also commenced here. Peruvanam Kuttan Marar is leading the melam for Paramekkavu temple. Meanwhile, Kizhakkoottu Aniyan Marar is leading the percussionists of Thiruvambady.
