Kannur: A three-year-old died after falling into a waterlogged pit while trying to retrieve football in Irikkur. The deceased is identified as Padayangad native Sajid’s son Nasal.

The police said that the boy died after falling into a waterlogged pit that was dug for well construction. The mishap happened by noon on Sunday.

The boy slipped and fell into the pit while playing. He was trying to retrieve his ball that had fallen into the pit.

Although the boy was rushed to the hospital, he had died by the time they got there. The police are investigating the case in detail.
