P R Sreejesh meets CM, gifts his hockey jersey
Thiruvananthapuram: Olympian P R Sreejesh, met Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at his office here on Tuesday after taking charge as the Joint Director (Physical Education & Sports) in the Department of General Education. He said that the new position is more responsible and efforts will be made to bring more athletes from Kerala to a stage like the Olympics.
He also gifted his no.16 hockey jersey to the CM. Meantime, the CM in a Facebook post said that the Sreejesh was an integral part of the team which created history by winning bronze at the Olympics after a gap of 41 years. Sreejesh also has played a significant role in giving international prominence to Indian hockey, the CM said and wished him that he can achieve more laurels for himself and the nation.
Sreejesh was initially a Deputy Sports Organizer in the Directorate of General Education. He was later promoted to joint director after winning the bronze medal in hockey at the Tokyo Olympics.
After meeting with CM, Sreejesh also attended a function held at the office of the Director of General Education and Minister V Sivankutty honoured Sreejesh.
