Malappuram: Muslim League leader and MP P. K. Kunhalikutty demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over the controversial gold smuggling case.
“Gold smuggling case has brought a shadow of doubt over the administrative system in Kerala. Involvement of Chief Minister’s former principal secretary M. Sivasankar and Chief Minister’s office in the case has come into light. But there is mystery in delaying action against Sivasankar. This fact makes the case more serious. The government’s action to shield Sivasankar strengthens the Opposition’s demand that the CM should resign and face a probe,” said Kunhalikutty.
“Accused in the gold smuggling case have clear links with high-profile people. Involvement of these VIPs has also been revealed. The accused hatched the conspiracy of gold smuggling through their contact with the VIPs,” he added.
The Muslim League leader condemned that the government is trapped in such issues at a time when COVID-19 cases in the state is increasing at an alarming rate.
The MP demanded that the Chief Minister should resign and face a probe into the case.
