Thiruvananthapuram: Senior CPM leader and former Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan criticized the appointment of P Sasi as the new political secretary to the chief minister. His remark came in the state committee meeting on Tuesday.

He asked the party to explain the reason for giving such a post to P Sasi. He pointed out that such mistakes can be repeated due to lapse in decision making.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was not present in the meeting when Jayarajan made his staunch criticism against the appointment. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan retorted that if he feels that party cadre would fail in organizational discipline, why did he not inform this to party leadership. He added that such a criticism cannot be raised when the party is about to make the final announcement on appointment.

Jayarajan said that such topics can be discussed only when there is an opportunity. However, he acknowledged the ability of Sasi and asked him to be careful.

The meeting also criticized the division of organizational responsibilities and inabilities of leaders in fullfilling their duties. The criticism was raised after some leaders were tasked with multiple responsibilities.

Additionally, the delegates also criticized the information inside the party getting leaked to media.
