Thiruvalla: A CPM local secretary was stabbed to death here on Thursday. The victim was identified as P B Sandeep Kumar, local committee secretary of the Peringara faction of the party. Sandeep is also a former member of the Peringara grama panchayat.
The CPM state secretariat issued a statement blaming the RSS and demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.
Sandeep was attacked near Nedumpuram Chathankary Mukk. A five-member group arrived on three bikes, blocked him and stabbed on his neck and chest. He then jumped to the nearby paddy field. However, attackers followed and stabbed him again.
According to the police, the incident occurred at around 8.30 PM.
Police said there were 11 stab wounds on the body of the victim who died before reaching a hospital. The body is kept at the Thiruvalla taluk hospital.
