Payyanur: A jewellery owner forgot to lock his shop on Thursday night. But an alert watchman, with the help of police, managed to take stock of the situation.

Thayineri native Shefeeq, owner of the Silgo Silver Gold jewellery store at the St Mary's Junction in Payyannur, closed the shutters on Thursday night. As it was raining, he wore the raincoat and waited for the downpour to recede. However, he forgot to lock the shop when he left home.

When the watchman arrived, he found that the store was unlocked. But he did not have the owner's number. He also was unaware of the phone number of the local police station. He dialled 100, the central control room of police. They alerted the Payyanur station.

The Payyannur police then called the owner to the shop. He remembered that he forgot to lock the shop only after receiving the call from police.
