Mumbai: Central Railways has decided to launch special train services from Mumbai and Pune to Kerala in view of the heavy rush expected during the upcoming vacation. Each weekly additional service will be operated from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus to Kanyakumari and from Pune to Ernakulam. The official declaration of the services will come only after receiving the approval of railway board.
The special train from LTT to Kanyakumari has been scheduled to operate from April 13 to June 17. The service will commence from LTT every Thursday at 3.30 pm and reach Kanyakumari on Friday 11.20 pm. The return journey will start on Saturday at 2.15 pm and arrive in LTT at 9.50 pm on Sunday.
Pune- Ernakulam special train will start from Pune on Thursday at 6.45 pm. It will reach Ernakulam on Friday at around 6.50 pm. The return service beginning on Friday at 11.25 pm will arrive in Pune at 2.45 am on Sunday. This special train service will operate from April 13 to June 16.
On account of the requests of Mumbai Malayalis, the Central Railways had operated LTT- Kanyakumari special train during the Sabarimala season.
