Over a lakh Kudumbashree members eligible to take 10th, +2 equivalency tests
Haripad: As part of Literacy mission, over 1 lakh 'Kudumbashree' members would be eligible to take the Xth and +2 equivalency exams, from next year onwards. The classes would be arranged in 1000 local bodies.
There would be 2 batches (10th and 12th batch) of 50 members each attending the classes. The classes for +2 equivalency courses would begin soon. The duration for the classes would be 10 months.
The Literacy Act aims to ensure all Kudumbashree members be eligible for 10th and 12th equivalency exams. To enhance the scheme, a project called ‘Sama’ was launched with the collaboration of Kudumbashree mission. There are currently 48 lakh Kudumbashree members in the state. A good percentage of them are ineligible to appear for SSLC exam. Kudumbashree units have particularly collected their details.
Based on the prepared list, all members from different wards are entitled to receive education classes for the forthcoming equivalency exams.The course and educational fees will be borne by the local Kudumbashree units. Registration and admission fees would be waived.
Those who have passed the seventh standard from schools and those who have passed the 7th standarad equivalency course could enroll for 10th standard equivalency course.
The minimum age limit is 17 years. The minimum age limit for enrolment to Higher secondary equivalent course is 22. Those who have passed the 10th standard or 10th equivalency course can register for this which starts from October 11.
‘’In a phased manner, all Kudumbashree activists in the state will be eligible for 10th and higher secondary education’’ said P.S. Sreekala, Director of Literacy Mission.
