Our daughter did not have COVID-19, says Malappuram couple

The child’s parents Asharaf and Asifa demanded that the government must be ready to acknowledge lapses in treatment.

Malappuram: In connection with the death of a four-month-old child succumbing to coronavirus here in the district, the parents have come out with serious allegations against the government.

Addressing a press conference, the child’s parents Asharaf and Asifa, of Payyanad in Manjeri, said that their daughter Nifa Fathima did not have COVID-19 and claimed lapses in treatment. The child had died on April 24.

“Our child’s first coronavirus test came out negative. Then another sample was tested at the Virology Institute in Alappuzha, which also came out negative. Even the test conducted after her death also came out negative. So we still believe that she was not suffering from COVID-19,” Asharaf and Asifa pointed out.

They demanded that the government must be ready to acknowledge lapses in treatment.

“The government is trying to hide the truth. After Nifa’s death, 33 people including us (the girl’s parents) were quarantined. But this was a useless exercise,” they added.
